“Portrait of Dead Freddie’s”

I set up my easel in front of Dead Freddie’s and started this pastel painting on Sennelier Pastel Card. I sketched in my composition using vine charcoal. Pastels easily cover vine charcoal which makes vine charcoal ideal for roughing in your composition. A link for Sennelier Pastel Card and vine charcoal can be found below:

I used lighter pan pastels for the sky of my painting and used Terry Ludwig brand soft pastels for the dark shapes of the building. The red doors were roughed in using Sennelier soft pastels. A link for all of these pastels can be found below:

The finer black lines of my pastel painting were achieved using pastel pencils. The fine black lines can be seen in the powerlines and support lines of the sign. A link for the pastel pencils can be found below:
